Galería Nina Menocal 2010

The work of this artist currently focuses on emphasizing the importance of the creative process. On this occasion, the record of two completed pieces and a third in process is presented, sharing reflections on the development and identity of the art object. The source of these pieces is the information selected for the theorization of a project, the production, and the characters of the art medium involved from the artist to the institutions. Each piece has been created through collaborations, something characteristic of her more recent works. The documentation of each action is composed of photographs or videos that record and emphasize the evolution of each project. The relationship with books is fundamental as they serve as a log of these processes and as an aesthetic object in itself.

Collector: it registers the intervention on the bookshelf of an architect and art collector.  Dellekamp covered the architect's books to erase their identity, thus turning the bookshelf into a formal object. A year later, she removed the paper that covered the books. She formed two memories of the collector's collection: the first - which she calls the collector's memory - with a series of fragmented images and words from the books safeguarded on the bookshelf. The process to form this volume references the cut-up technique of William Burroughs, which in this case uses photocopies to cut images to generate a new one. The second was created with the paper that wrapped the books during that year, representing the memory of the installation carried out on the bookshelf.

EL (Erotic Literature): Installation with the collection of erotic books of the owner of a bookstore.  After a random process of selecting images and fragments of text, the artist rearranged the content of several books to generate a book-object. This functions as a simulacrum of the way the reader defines and reinterprets the text, surpassing the figure of the author.

Press: this installation will be in process during the exhibition period. After a phase of collecting promotional printed material in galleries and museums, the artist has classified and relocated it. This material represents the legitimization of the art object within the market, showcasing artists and their work, as well as ideas around it. By re-contextualizing the printed materials and publications within the exhibition space, they gain a new life. Thanks to the classification by exhibition space, date, and medium, this project has launched extremely interesting data since its inception regarding the development of the art medium in our country in recent decades.
