Nests and acrylic boxes of variable dimensions

Social housing has one basic purpose in our country: obtaining the best financial results for those who grant permits and build housing units. Individual needs are ignored and are subject to the regulations imposed by a system that is insensitive to human beings and their environment. When Graciela Kasep encouraged me to reflect on space and cities, I though on nests, and asked for help through social networks to collect them. The nest is a inhabitable space with clues for deciphering who lives in it and how. It is built in harmony with the environment with elements from the surrounding areas. Each species has its own building model. Each nest is unique. In the installation, the nests are placed in an anonymous box that responds to abstract values.

The nests were gathered thanks to the collaboration of the people who responded to my request. This idea is related to “tequio” or the communal and voluntary work done for the well being of all. Community members contribute with materials and/or work for building housing or communal projects.
